PowerNow!

The PowerNow! architecture introduced by AMD with its dynamic energy management allows significantly longer battery life for Notebooks, without any compromise in processor performance. Notebook owners do not have to miss out on the best multimedia and Office applications! Three operating modes are available.

In automatic mode the system monitors how the OS reports the CPU is being used whilst applications are being executed. Frequency and voltage are constantly adjusted to perfectly balance battery life and performance. If the OS indicates that it is not being used, the processor decides to reduce the frequency and voltage. However if CPU usage increases, the processor raises the frequency and voltage to be able to meet requirements. The Notebook user does not have to initiate this process himself - his Notebook offers full power performance, as well as a longer battery life.
