Optical Mouse
In principle, an optical mouse does not differ from a regular computer mouse, even though the functional principle differs.
Regular mouse devices have a ball installed in the mouse bottom that transfers movements to cylinders, which lets the computer detect the direction of mouse movement.
The movements are transformed into electrical signals and sent to the computer.
An optical mouse has a camera installed in the mouse bottom that takes 1,500 pictures a second of the area below the mouse.
If there is movement, the mouse determines the direction and speed of movement by comparing the images.
