Operating System

PCs cannot exist without "operating systems". The operating system is loaded after start-up during the boot process.

The primary function of an operating system is to manage all of the different memory types: main memory, storage space (diskette, hard drive, CD-ROM, DVD, etc.).

The most common operating system is Windows 98 SE (still) and Windows 2000.
There are also: MS DOS, OS/2, Unix, Linux, Windows NT (discontinued), BeOS and many others.
In addition, Windows XP, the successor to Windows 2000 and Windows 98/ME is also available.
