ISA

The term "ISA" ("Industry Standard Architecture") designates a bus developed by IBM which is still available on (almost?) all motherboards for compatibility reasons.

Characteristic is the black slot in which ISA cards (mostly sound cards and modems) are inserted.

The bus is 16 bits wide (16 bits can be transferred at the same time) and has a clock rate of 8.33 MHz.
