Firewire
Firewire (IEEE stands for Institute of Electrical and Electronic Engineers, 1394 is the number of the standard) is a Plug-and-Play, or self-configuring, system used to independently attach new devices.
Unlike USB, which is a variation, there is no need for a PC to be attached to the Firewire bus.
Firewire supports up to 63 devices and data rates of up to 400 Mbps. Firewire is part of the ATX 2.1 specification.
