EDO RAM

"EDO RAM" memory components (the acronym for "Enhanced Data Output RAM", is characterised by its ability to use the SRAM register that is a part of all normal memory components as a second level cache as well.

This means that the processor is able to access EDO RAM components much faster than normal RAM.

The common advertising claim that a computer equipped with EDO RAM does not require a second level cache is, nevertheless, incorrect because maximum system performance is only achieved with a cache on the motherboard.
